Add the onion, garlic, green chilies, chicken, chicken broth, diced tomatoes, beans, and lime juice to the slow cooker and stir to combine.
Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.
During the last hour of cooking, stir in the rice and continue to cook until tender.
Add salt and pepper, to taste, and serve topped with avocado and cilantro.
Top with cheese and tortilla chips, if desired.
