Slow Cooker Chicken Shawarma

Ingredients

For the shawarma:

  • 3 Tbs. lemon juice
  • 3 Tbs. olive oil
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. curry powder
  • 1 dash cayenne pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic crushed
  • lbs. chicken thighs boneless strips
  • 3-4 rounds pita bread
  • 1 head lettuce for serving, optional

For the cucumber sauce:

  • 4 oz. plain or Greek-style yogurt or sour cream
  • ½ small cucumber chopped

Instructions

For the cucumber sauce:

  • Stir together cucumber and yogurt.

For the shawarma:

  • In a small bowl, stir together lemon juice, olive oil, salt, curry, cayenne pepper and garlic.
  • Place chicken in the slow cooker and pour olive oil mixture over the top.
  • Stir to coat all chicken. Cook on high for 5-6 hours or on low for 7-8 hours.
  • Serve chicken topped with cucumber sauce in pita bread rounds or wrapped in lettuce leaves.
