Stovetop Homemade Plant Based Baked Beans

Ingredients

  • 4 15 oz. cans navy or pinto beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 clove garlic crushed
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • ¼ cup ketchup no high fructose corn syrup
  • ¼ cup barbeque sauce no high fructose corn syrup
  • 1 Tbs. smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp. chili powder
  • ½ tsp. ground mustard
  • ½ tsp. onion powder
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • salt to taste
  • extra water as needed

Instructions

Stovetop Version:

  • Combine all ingredients in a pan on the stove and cook for 30 minutes or more on medium.
  • Stir often, adding water if the beans seem too thick.

Notes

Note: You can also use one pound of dried beans for this recipe. Cook them according to the package directions and then follow the rest of the recipe.
