- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 small onion chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 small green pepper chopped
- 1 stalk celery chopped
- 2 15 oz. cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 15 oz. cans diced tomatoes
- 15 oz. can tomato sauce
- 1 cup water
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 Tbs. chili powder
- 1 Tbs. sugar
- salt and pepper to taste
- ½ cup red wine
Brown the meat, onion, garlic, and celery together and cook till the meat is done.
Drain the grease, rinse under hot water, and put it back in the pot.
Add remaining ingredients, except the wine.
Taste for seasoning and adjust if necessary.
Add the wine, bring to a simmer and cook for 1-2 hours.
